Tribute to the Past

After only six years of manufacturing the automaker Veritas had to declare bankruptcy in the year 1953 and its name disappeared from the automotive scene.

In the first half of the 1960s it was apparently planed to revive the former company name. But the initiators kept to the sidelines and remained guarded over their real intention. It is not known whether they were really intending a commercial revival of the brand Veritas or not. The only thing, which survived down to the present day is a gorgeous, sportive coupé based on a Veritas chassis and fitted with an engine of the former Veritas production. In the spirit of a sporting heritage the 1964-built car was christened RS II Coupé – referring to the successful Veritas racecar RS. With its commemorative of the original and circular company emblems on the elongated front hood and its abrupt ending rear the RS II Coupé shared common characteristics with its predecessors. But these remained the only common characteristics. The designer of the car body, who unfortunately remained unknown, did not adopt the typical and charismatic Veritas’ front design with its distinctive radiator grille.

The fact remains that the sportive two-seater, based on the chassis and fitted with the engine of an original Veritas, may visually cut quite a figure, but was not a serious attempt to put Veritas back on the map.
