About the Original

Breathtaking Design

In 1965, the designer Aldo Brovarore, working for Pininfarina, realized his design idea based on the tubular space frame of a Ferrari Dino 206, unaware of what a breathtaking final result he would create.

It took less than six months from the first sketch to the finished sports car. The ultra-flat sports car with its striking rounded wheel arches was unveiled on time at the Pininfarina booth at the Paris exhibition floor.

The mid-engined Ferrari impressed visually with elegance and yet its small, above all, deep cockpit could not hide the spartan nature of a racing car. Even drivers of normal stature had considerable difficulty getting into the car, and the two seats were not adjustable. However, this did not harm the enthusiasm in the scene and the car was celebrated for its delicate, flat look. In addition to the excitement, however, there was also a sad anecdote – it was the last vehicle that company founder Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina had worked on before his death in 1966.

In 1967, Pininfarina company gifted the unique car to the LeMans organizer ACO (Automobile Club de L’Quest), which exhibited the sports car for the entire decades without driving it. Finally the Ferrari was sold at an auction in 2017.
