Model Description
Manufactured ca. in the 1950ties, in color darkred with cream base plate, perfect and brand new condition without any signs of playing, all functions are tested and working perfect, marked with "Made in Western Germany" in blue letters on the base plate, all parts from the model are authentic to the year of production, with original manual, small Schuco wind-up key no. 1, steering shaft and cardboard box which is also in brand new condition. Extremely rare Varianto model and extremely rare condition.

Things to know about the Schuco Varianto VW Käfer 3040/3040P
The Varianto series was first introduced to the Schuco range in 1951 and was built up to and including 1966. The programme was continually expanded with new vehicle types at the time, although the Varianto VW Beetle with item number 3040 in the road version and as a police vehicle with item number 3040P were only added in 1959. The model has a clockwork mechanism with three different driving speeds for slow, medium and fast forwards as well as a stop function, all of which are operated via a lever on the rear window. The direction of travel can be controlled via a remote steering shaft, for example, or it can run along the track of the Varianto layout. There was no reissue of the Varianto series.
